Windermere was established in 1889 and prides it self on maintaining a small town feel. Many local streets are dirt roads and street name signs are white concrete posts. Windermere has been the residence of many professional golfers as well as other professional sports figures. However, many celebrities actually live in the Isleworth gated community/subdivision which is outside the town limits of Windermere but utilize the Windermere mailing address. There are some of the best golf courses in the country here, as well as some of the most beautiful lakeside sunsets. Windermere is less than a thirty minutes from Orlando. Windermere is located among the Butler chain of lakes, which provides a variety of escapes for recreation and a small town way of life away from the hustle and bustle of the city. *
